Christina Schneider has had a new pseudonym for every one of her releases; Jepeto Solutions, CE Schneider Topical, Christina Schneider’s Genius Grant & & the eponymous Christina Schneider…. she’s currently recording under Locate S,1. Healing Contest, her newest release is the first for this moniker and also the first while being signed on the Captured Tracks roster.
Who are some of your fav Captured Tracks Artists?
Chris Cohen, Lina Tullgren, Juan Waters, Reptaliens, Cleaners From Venus, Milk ‘n’ Cookies, Saâda Bonaire, The 6ths, The Bats, The Monochrome Set… I feel very humbled to officially have something in common with all them.
What’s your current inspiration?
The people I play music with, the 40 hour work week, urgent care waiting rooms, the lentils, Ruth Garbus, Sweden in the 70s, Gleyber Torres, the best of Lucy vol. II: 2015-2017, the failures of corporate feminism, what are cobwebs?, pig Latin, Bernie Sanders, corn fields, cider donuts, the infertility of my womb, the fertility of my imagination, surface to air missive, Chris Lott, mistress Mary, Greta Thunberg, my true love Kevin, my guitar, my paycheck, my cell phone, my make-up bag, costumes.
You recently toured with Frankie Cosmos, what was the most memorable moment?
As we pulled into a gas station by my mom’s house in NY, Clayton looked out the window to meet the gaze of Eric Trump. we went to my mom’s house and watched Candyman with the whole band, though Sarah and Ross went to bed before it ended. Kevin asked who the director was and I told everyone Candyman was directed by Clive Barker. Ross told me I was wrong about Clive Barker directing Candyman the next day in the car -in front of everyone- and I will never forget, nor forgive, that.
What’s your favorite track to play live from Healing Contest?
I love to play “The Count Of Monte Critico” because it’s an extremely difficult song for each person to play, so I always feel like I’ve accomplished something wonderful when it’s finished. Plus, we get to have a little heavy noise moment to cleanse the palate.
What is next for Locate S, 1?
Probably a lifetime of sold out shows played to ballrooms of adoring & screaming fans who are pissing themselves.

alive: Abba because they are wonderful
dead: Prince Rogers Nelson because he is alive
